bullfrog pond

Today I was in search of frog photos, so I visited the Riverside Park pond.  At first, I had a hard time finding them and they were jumping into the pond before I even saw them. Most of them were still pretty small. Then I found an American Bullfrog sunning himself on a rock.

I wasn't fast enough to catch that amazing photo of a bullfrog jumping through the air --  maybe later.

keeper of the plain

I decided to try to take photos of the keeper of the plains and the bridge at sunset.

 I went a little early to find a good place to take photos and was able to shoot a family fishing.

The sunset wasn't very colorful, but I stayed until they lit the fires under the keeper of the plains.

I need to buy a tripod for better pictures.

I went to oldtown to meet Jackie for lunch. So, I decided to make a photo opportunity of Cash.

Then the older kids came down and started playing in the fountain.Luke looks like that painting of Magritte's with the apple in the face of the man with the derby.

trip to the country - part 2

When we were at Beaumont, Anthony and I met a real live cowboy.  We could go ride horses on the ranch, or hiking.  It sounded like a lot of fun.  Of course, Anthony wanted to pose with the cowboy.

On the way to a fishing spot, we found a prairie rattlesnake and a box turtle along the road.  The rattlesnake was so full of a meal, it wouldn't even move when I took a photo of it.

After catching some fish, we headed back home.  Of course, turkey vultures are always circling in the country.

trip to the country

I took a trip with Anthony that I am going to put on for today's photo moment, since I don't have time to go out and find something to shoot. We went to Beaumont, and on to Howard.  We passed the wind farms.

They look so cool, but are hard to photograph.  You can't get the expanse of country and the movement of the generators captured in a photo. It is also hard to capture the enormous size of the windmills.Tomorrow, I will show some of the animals and people in the trip.

after a summer rain

This has been an extremely wet summer.  I was going to go out to take photos when I got caught by a summer rain.  It only rained enough to wet the flowers in the neighbors' yards.  So I saw this as my photo opportunity for the day.

Of course, it didn't stop the butterflies and bees from carrying out their duties after it stopped.

gargoyle with birdnest

In Riverside, there is a hisoric castle that was made into an inn.  Today I was searching for a subject, and decided to photograph the gargoyles on the castle. 

A house sparrow made it's nest under the feet of one of the gargoyles, and uses another one for it's perch.
